Dear Guardian of a Preschool Child,

Registration for pupils starting on grade 1 of basic education in August 2026 is open from 18 December 2025 to 11 January 2026.

Registration takes place via Wilma, and the registration instructions will be published on Wilma’s homepage: https://hameenlinna.inschool.fi

• Log in to Wilma through the website (you cannot create a user account or fill in the application form via mobile app).
• First, create a Wilma account or link your child to an existing Wilma account.
• You will need online banking credentials or a mobile certificate to create the account.
• The application form can be found in Wilma under Forms, titled School Registration.

Please check the following information during registration:

• Pupil’s name and contact details
• Guardians’ and close relatives’ details
• Information necessary for planning education (check religious affiliation and select the subject for religion and ethics education)

Decisions on final school placements will be published in Wilma or sent by post starting 13 March 2026.

During registration, you will see the planned local school and may express a preference for another school (this is not an application). Preferences will be reviewed from 12 January 2026 onwards. If the preference cannot be granted, the local school indicated on the registration form will be assigned.

A decision on school transport will be made automatically in spring after the school place has been confirmed, if the school journey is more than 3 km. If your child is not entitled to transport based on distance, but the route is dangerous or transport is needed for another reason, you can apply for transport in Wilma.

Application for Morning and Afternoon Activities: 18 December 2025 – 28 February 2026

Morning and afternoon activities are voluntary and subject to a fee. The activities are organised at school from 7:00 to 17:00 before and after the school day.
Indicate the pupil’s local school on the application (the school assigned on the school registration form). If you have expressed a preference for another school, note this in the additional information field.

The school year 2026–2027 begins on 12 August 2026. A granted place can be cancelled free of charge by 31 July 2026.
